Thomas M. Meyer ist seit Januar 2022 Professor für Politische Institutionen im Vergleich am Institut für Staatswissenschaft. Zuvor war er an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin tätig. Während seines Doktorats (2007-2010) am Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioral Sciences (CDSS) war er unter anderem am Mannheimer Zentrum für Europäische Sozialforschung (MZES) angestellt.
Thomas M. Meyer forscht und lehrt zu politischen Institutionen und deren Rolle in Willensbildungs- und Entscheidungsprozessen, zu politischem Wettbewerb in sich verändernden Gesellschaften, zur Kommunikation politischer Eliten, Regierungsbildungsprozessen und zu politischem Verhalten.
