On 25 and 26 May, the Department of Government hosts a workshop on “Voter Perceptions of Post-Election Outcomes”.

The workshop brings together research on voters’ preferences and attitudes of post-election outcomes. While citizens’ acceptance of election outcomes is central to liberal democracy, voters’ preferences and attitudes towards election outcomes and how there are depicted by media are far less well understood. Similarly, while post-election coalition bargaining and compromise among rival political parties can be seen as an inevitable step of government formation in many democracies world-wide, voters’ reactions to who-gets-in and out of government and who-gets-what represent largely overlooked topics.

The workshop is organized by Carolina Plescia, Thomas M. Meyer (both University of Vienna) and Alejandro Ecker (University of Heidelberg).

We are happy to welcome our international guests!
