Effects of Unempoyment

The project "Effects of Unemployment" was funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour. This project investigatesd the impacts of unemployment on health and psyche, as well as the social and family environment of the unemployed. The research triangulates a methodological framework that applies qualitative and quantitative methods in complementary and interactive ways. It combines a representative survey (n=800) among unemployed and employed people, with focus group interviews, expert interviews and in-depth interviews with unemployed persons and their families. The aim of the research is to develop a profound tool for regular panel-surveys on unemployment on a yearly basis.The project is run in collaboration with WISDOM (Wiener Institut für Sozialwissenschaftliche Dokumentation und Methdodik).
