Kurze Bio: Vor ihrer Zeit am Institut für Staatswissenschaft an der Universität Wien war Carolina Plescia Assistant Professor (tenure-track) an der Universität Bologna und FWF Hertha Firnberg-Stipendiatin an der Universität Wien mit ihrem Projekt über die 'Folgen der Koalitionskompromisse für die öffentliche Meinung'. Carolina Plescia hat ihr Doktorat im November 2013 am Trinity College Dublin, mit einer Dissertation zu Wahlverhalten in 'mixed member' Wahlsystemen, unter der Betreuung der Professoren Michael Marsh und Kenneth Benoit, absolviert. Ihre Dissertation wurde mit dem ECPR Jean Blondel PhD Preis für die beste politikwissenschaftliche Doktorarbeit 2014 ausgezeichnet.

Derzeit ist sie zusammen mit Professorin Sylvia Kritzinger am H2020-Projekt RECONNECT beteiligt. Da Projekt untersucht die Wahrnehmung Bürger*Innen von Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit in der EU sowie mögliche Reformszenarien. 

Im Juli 2020 wurde Carolina mit dem ERC StG ausgezeichnet, um sowohl die Bedeutung der Stimmabgabe für Bürger*Innen, als auch ihre Ursachen und Folgen, zu erforschen. Das Projekt beginnt im Januar 2021 und wird 5 Jahre dauern. Informationen finden Sie hier

  • FWF Hertha Firnberg project über die 'Folgen der Koalitionskompromisse für die öffentliche Meinung' (2018-2023). 
  • H2020 project RECONNECT über die Wahrnehmung Bürger*Innen von Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit in der EU sowie mögliche Reformszenarien (2018-2021).

 

Forschungsinteressen: vergleichendes Wahlverhalten, Koalitionsregierungen, Repräsentationen und Forschungsmethoden.
